PKI
PKI:llä (Public Key Infrastructure) tarkoitetaan julkisen avaimen infrastruktuuria. Jotta sähköistä allekirjoitusta voitaisiin käyttää avoimessa ympäristössä (esimerkiksi Internetissä), jossa osapuolet eivät tunne toisiaan, tarvitaan tietoa siitä, kuka on allekirjoituksen tehnyt henkilö. Siksi on kehitetty PKI-järjestelmä, jossa luotettava kolmas osapuoli myöntää sähköisen todistuksen, varmenteen. Varmenne sisältää tietoja siitä, kenelle varmenne on myönnetty. PKI:ssa käytetään avainparia, joista toinen on julkinen ja toinen yksityinen, ja järjestelmä perustuu asymmetriseen salaukseen. Allekirjoittaja tekee allekirjoituksen omalla, yksityisellä avaimellaan, joka on vain hänen tiedossaan. Allekirjoituksen vastaanottaja voi todentaa allekirjoituksen aitouden ja viestin eheyden varmenteessa olevan julkisen avaimen avulla. |
